Cause Wellbeing Inspirations

Cause ~ Verb:  to make something happen; Noun:  an aim or movement that through deep commitment, one is prepared to act on and advocate for

Wellbeing ~ Noun:  a felt sense state of optimal health and vitality inclusive of happiness and prospering that can be cultivated in any circumstance

The inspiration for Cause Wellbeing is rooted in the rich soil of my professional background that combines years of hospice nursing with study and practice of Taoist Five Element Chinese medicine. These very different worlds met in my heart, as they combine endings with enlivened beginnings on the ground of full spectrum of living, common to each and every one of us.

While midwifing many people from this world to the next, a longing arose to find a way to help people intervene in their own lives beginning much earlier in the life span with time tested healing practices, to hopefully prevent some of the breakdown and suffering so apparent around us.

My Story

Father Richard Rohr, in his quintessential guide Falling Upward, names a deeply helpful framework describing entrance of a new phase of life that can emerge when we are ready to expand beyond the old structures of what he calls the “first half ” of our life path.

For me this began in my late 50’s, when unexpectedly the light began to brighten during the darkness of my own healing journey. During post menopausal years I developed pain in my joints that began limiting movement and I fractured my lower femur; it was discovered I had osteoporosis and osteoarthritis.

These health declines coincided with becoming professionally burned out.  After managing a home health/hospice nursing team during the COVID era, I opted for early retirement, left city living, and took residence in a quiet canyon in New Mexico. This is where I began to fall upward. It was both descent and expansion, yet on very different terms than my earlier ambitions called for. This required fully embracing both my woundedness and already wholeness. It’s when grace brought a deepening to my spiritual calling and when Qi Gong came back into my life like a cherished old friend, who had been standing by waiting all along.

As the way forward began to emerge and grow, Cause Wellbeing was born as a springboard to serve others these time tested methods of healing; methods that bring about a sense of empowered freedom along with ease and awakening hope. My own falling upward revealed a way to help contribute, share and spread some positivity in the world we live in.
